On this date in 1305 the Scottish rebellion leader William Wallace was executed.

On this day, there was a massacre called Bartholomew’s Night, in which several thousand Huguenots were murdered in 1572.

In 1974 American pilot Charles Lindbergh died. He was 72 years old.
